Native Restoration Solutions is a wholesale nursery grower of native herbaceous plants, grasses, sedges, ferns, shrub and tree species for homeowners, landscapers, contractors, engineering and consulting firms, townships and counties.

Whether your project is large or small, allow us to be your supplier for all your shrub- and tree-planting needs. We currently have over 60 species of native trees and shrubs available. We welcome the opportunity to bid on large projects requiring 100s to 1,000s of plants.

Environmental Consulting Services

In addition to our wholesale nursery plants, we also provide consulting services to evaluate your project needs, including environmental site assessments, restoration and mitigation designs, permitting, installation and monitoring on a contractual basis. Northern Bayberry (Morella pensylvanica)

1 and 2 gallon

Native deciduous to semi-evergreen shrub 5' - 12' tall x 5' - 20' wide spreading via suckering and forming large, irregularly shaped colonies with dark green leaves. Prefers open, sandy sites with at least moderate drainage and is tolerant of poor fertility. High drought tolerance, moderate shade tolerance and intermittent hydric tolerance. Coastal lowlands, bluffs and dunes to coastal pineland forests, deciduous and mixed open forests, wetland buffers, and streambanks. FAC

Buttonbush (Cephalanthus occidentalis)

3 gallon

Multi-stemmed, spreading open shrub 4' - 12' tall x 3' - 10' wide and producing numerous terminal, white ball-shaped flower clusters 1" - 1½" in diameter. Very high flood tolerance and moderate shade tolerance. Moist to wetland habitats, swamps, floodplains, streambanks and lake margins. OBL

Cedar, Northern White (Thuja occidentalis)

3 and 5 gallon

Native, evergreen, small to medium sized tree from 40 – 70’ tall, narrowly conical to broadly pyramidal in outline. Producing clusters of small upright ellipsoidal cones, ⅜ - ½” tall. Moderate flood tolerance and shade tolerance. Cool moist northern mixed forests.  FACW

Black Chokeberry (Photinia melanicarpa)

2 and 3 gallon

Multi-stemmed erect spreading shrub 6' - 10' tall x 3' - 5' wide producing terminal clusters of white flowers and bright black berries. Adapted to a wide range of soils with moist to average conditions. Moderate hydric tolerance and low drought tolerance. Dry to wet thickets, streambanks, pond margins and woodland edge habitats. FACW

Red Osier Dogwood (Cornus sericea)

2 and 3 gallon

Multi-stemmed shrub 5' - 10' tall x 6' - 8' wide with erect, upright, bright red stems with arching branches when mature; large clump forming. Adapted to a wide range of soil types and drainage conditions. Intermediate shade and drought tolerances. Streambanks, lakebanks, several wetland types, moist thickets, floodplains and wet meadows. FACW

Arrowwood Viburnum (Viburnum dentatum)

3 and 5 gallon

Deciduous multi-stemmed shrub 5' -15' tall with open irregular to rounded form. Moderate shade and hydric tolerances but low drought tolerance. Woodland habitats, from low-lying woods to mesic woodlands, and margins along wetlands, streambanks, thickets and roadsides. FAC

Common Elderberry (Sambucus canadensis)

5 gallon 

Multi-stemmed shrub 5' - 12' tall x 4' - 8' wide with open, spreading form. Adapted to open to partially shaded sites with moist to wet soils. Streambanks, lakeshores, roadside ditches, wetland edges of swamps, floodplain forests, ponds and bogs. FACW

American Hazelnut (Corylus americana)

2 gallon

Multi-stemmed, suckering, deciduous shrub 4' - 12' tall x 4' - 12' wide forming dense thickets. Young stems are reddish-brown, dense and velvety with a zigzag appearance. Adapted to a wide range of soils; prefers sites with dry to moist soil but will not tolerate hydric conditions. Species displays both moderate shade and drought tolerances. Fence rows, dry to moist thickets, woodland borders, oldfields, streambanks and deciduous forest habitats. FACU

Winterberry (Ilex verticillata)

1, 3 and 5 gallon

Multi-stemmed clumping shrub 6' - 12' tall x 6' - 12' wide with erect, dense stems. Broadly rounded to oval rounded form. Found growing on wet to moist sites in full sun to partially shaded conditions. Adapted to a wide range of soil textures, from course to fine, but more often found at wetland sites with silty to organic soil types. Forested hardwood and mixed evergreen/hardwood wetlands, shrub wetlands, and wetland meadow buffers. FACW

American larch (Larix laricina)

5, 7 and 10 gallon

Deciduous coniferous tree 50' - 75' feet tall x 14" - 20" wide. Prefers wet to moist soils often occurring in organic soil types but also common in mineral or even clayey soils. High hydric tolerance, intermediate drought tolerance and no shade tolerance. Pioneer species. Boreal forests, swamps, bogs, streambanks, lakeshores, northern slopes and ravines. FACW

Red Maple (Acer rubrum)

3 and 5 gallon - Mid- to Late June 2020

Midsized to large tree, single- to multi-stemmed, 50' - 90' tall x 1' - 3' wide. Soil regimes can range from very wet to dry. Species displays moderate shade tolerance, moderate drought tolerance and high hydric tolerance. Pioneer to subclimax species to codominant in deciduous to mixed coniferous forests. Occurring in many forest cover types across its range. FAC

Ninebark (Physocarpus opulifolius)

3 and 5 gallon 

Dense, multi-stemmed shrub 5' - 10' tall x 5' - 10' wide with an erect, open spreading form. Wet to moist sites in full sun to partially shaded conditions. Adapted to a wide range of soil textures, from course to fine. Produces terminal clusters of small white to pinkish flowers. Streambanks, lakebanks, wetlands, moist thickets, floodplains and meadows. FACW

Sweetbay Magnolia (Magnolia virginiana)

10 gallon

Deciduous small to midsized tree 10' - 35' tall x 10' - 35' wide. Prefers mesic to wetter soil conditions, typically occurring in mesic to wetter sites with deep organic to loamy and even clayey soils. Wildlife food and cover value is very good. Excellent specimen tree for yards.

Tulip tree (Liriodendron tulipifera)

Medium to large tree 80 - 100', with an open, spreading form. Prefers open to partially shaded sites with deep-mesic, moderately drained soils, medium- to fine-textured. Low hydric tolerance and intermediate shade tolerance. Moist bottomlands, floodplains, stream- and riverbanks, and low woods. FACU

Pin Oak (Quercus palustris)

5 and 7 gallon

Midsized to large tree 50' - 100' tall x 25' - 50' wide with a strong pyramidal form. Adapted to a wide range of site conditions, from coarse- to fine-textured soils that are well-drained to poorly drained conditions. Fertility requirement is low. Wildlife food and cover value is very good. Bottomland hardwood forests, forested wetlands and urban plantings. FACW

Swamp White Oak (Quercus bicolor)

2, 3 and 5 gallon

Midsized tree 60' - 75' tall, occasionally to 100'. Prefers open to partially shaded sites with moist to wet soil moisture regimes and is tolerant of periodic inundation once established. Wildlife food and cover value is very good. Low, moist forests and forested wetlands and river- and streambanks. FACW

White Pine (Pinus strobus)

3, 5 and 7 gallon

Midsized to very large evergreen tree 50' - 80' tall, up 160' tall, with a symmetrical pyramidal form. Prefers open to partially shaded sites with moist, fertile, well-drained soils. Intermediate shade and drought tolerances. Uplands, forested habitats and wetland buffers. FACU

Redbud (Cercis canadensis)

10 gallon

Small to midsized tree 25' - 35' tall, occasionally up to 50', either single-or multi-stemmed with a smooth grayish trunk. Well-drained acidic soils. Adapted to fine to medium soils that are moderately to well-drained. Moderate shade and drought tolerances but no hydric tolerance. Open woodlands, abandoned pastures and forest understories. FACU

Serviceberry, Alleghany (Amelanchier

Small deciduous shrub to small tree, single- to multi-stemmed, up to 20' - 25' tall x 15' - 20' wide. Adapted to a wide range of soils and wet-mesic to moist sites. Moderate hydric, drought and shade tolerances. Good wildlife species. Swamps, thickets, lowlands, streambanks and landscapes. FAC

Norway Spruce (Picea abies)

15 gallon

Midsized to large evergreen tree 75' - 100' tall x 1½' - 3' wide. Adapted to a wide range of soil types and site fertility. Prefers moderately fertile sites with moderately to well-drained soils. Intermediate shade tolerance, low hydric tolerance and high drought tolerance. Northern and boreal forested communities. FACU

White Spruce (Picea glauca)

5 gallon

Small to midsized evergreen tree 20' - 100' tall. Adapted to a wide range of soil types and site fertility. Prefers moderately fertile sites with moderately to well-drained soils. Intermediate shade tolerance, low hydric tolerance and high drought tolerance. Northern and boreal forested communities. FACU

Sycamore, American (Platanus occidentalis)

5 and 10 gallon


Midsized to large tree 75' - 100', up to 150', with an open, spreading form. Prefers deep-mesic, moderately drained soils that are coarse- to fine-textured. High hydric tolerance and intermediate shade tolerance. Moist bottomlands, floodplains, stream- and riverbanks, and low woods. FACW

Black Willow (Salix nigra)

1, 2 and 5 gallon

Midsized to large tree 60' - 100' tall. Single- to multi-stemmed form. Prefers open, sunny sites with moist to wet soils and moderately to poorly drained conditions. Streambanks, lakeshores, swamps, floodplain forests and ponds. FACW

NRS produces a wide variety of plug flats including herbaceous plants, grasses and sedges. Plant species are MI genotypes and/or midwestern sources. Sizes available include: 38 cell deep plug flats, 1 and 3 gallon containers.

PRICING INFORMATION

Wholesale pricing. Minimum wholesale plant order is $500.00. All orders are COD. Unless a valid Tax Exempt Certificate is submitted at the time of sale, we must charge the appropriate sales tax.

PICKUP INFORMATION

Customers are encouraged to pick up their orders. Delivery can be arranged for larger plant orders (minimum $1,000.00) to your home or job site within 250 miles of the nursery. Please contact us to discuss options available. A delivery fee will be assessed based on fuel costs at the time of delivery. The customer is responsible for unloading.
